Human hair wigs are created using, you guessed it, human hair! This gives the wig an incredibly natural look, feel, and move. Because they're such a big investment, you must put in the time and effort to keep your human hair wig looking fabulous. But it's important to remember that not all wigs are created equal.
This guide covers the entire hair wig care process:
Pre-Wash Procedure
To wash your human hair wig, start by combing it out gently with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb. Remove all tangles, starting at the tips of the hair and working your way up to the base of the wig.
Washing Procedure
Start by wetting your human hair wig under running water. Hold your wig under the tap or wet it in the shower to avoid tangling the hair in a basin or sink. Use a small amount of shampoo to work up a lather in your hands and apply it to your wig. Do not rub or massage the wig, as this could cause the hair to tangle or break. Once you've applied the shampoo from top to bottom, rinse it using clean, cold water.
After rinsing the shampoo out of your wig, squeeze any excess water out of it lightly. Be sure not to rub or wring it out while doing this. To dry it off, blot it gently with a towel to remove any extra water. Then, you can start conditioning it.
Conditioning Procedure
While your human hair wig is still wet, take a small amount of conditioner and spread it into your palms. Gently work it into the hair, making sure to distribute it evenly. Be careful not to get any conditioner on the base of the wig, as this can loosen the knots and cause the wig to lose hair.
We recommend leaving the conditioner in your natural hair wig for 3-5 minutes. Wet the wig and saturate it with conditioner, then gently detangle the wig, starting at the tips of the hair and working your way up.
Start from the bottom and work your way up, gently combing through the knots with a wide-tooth comb or your fingers. Be careful not to tug or pull too hard, as this could damage the wig. Once you've detangled the wig, rinse it thoroughly with cool water to remove the conditioner.
Drying Procedure
Squeeze the water out of the wig (don't rub or wring it) and blot it with a towel. You can put a little oil on the wig to make it shiny and protect the hair.
It's best to air-dry your wig on a wig stand, as that's the most gentle method and will help preserve the natural fibers.
Styling Procedure
Once the wig is dry, you can style it with heated tools such as curling irons, flat irons, and hair dryers; don’t forget to use a heat protectant. If you are styling a curly wig, a small amount of styling foam will help form curls. Use styling products sparingly to help prolong the lifespan of your human hair wig.
Conclusion
The better you take care of your human hair wig, the longer it will last and the more beautiful it will look. Remember that the more you take care of it, the longer your wig will last and more you'll love it.
